Resumo: A coluna cervical é um dos segmentos mais móveis da coluna vertebral. É submetida a um grande número de agressões e pressões como o peso da cabeça, trabalho dos membros superiores, posturas de trabalho/atividades de vida diária, além de aspectos emocionais, como o estresse. Sofre, também, influência do sistema estomatognático e dos ossos do crânio sendo por isso, uma região que merece atenção de uma equipe multidisciplinar. Nem somente o fisioterapeuta pode tratar a coluna cervical sem correlacionar com a articulação têmporo-mandibular, assim como o dentista deve, também, saber que uma alteração nesta região pode levar a alterações não somente da cervical, mas na postura globalmente. Levando-se esses e outros aspectos em consideração é que este texto traz a importância da estreita relação entre a coluna cervical e a articulação têmporo-mandibular. Uma reflexão para que todos os profissionais envolvidos na área da saúde possam fazer e entender então, que a atuação de uma equipe multidisciplinar no tratamento de nossos pacientes é indispensável.
Abstract: The cervical column is one of the segments most mobile of the vertebral column. It is submitted to a great number of aggressions and pressures as the weight of the head, work of the superior members, work postures, beyond emotional aspects, like stress. It suffers, also, influence of the stomatognatic system and the bones of the skull being therefore, a region that deserves attention of a multidiscipline team. Nor the physiotherapist only can treat the cervical column without correlating with the temporomandibular joint, as well as the dentist must, also, know that an alteration in this region can not only take the alterations of the cervical one, but in the posture globally. Taking these and other aspects in consideration are that this text brings the importance of the narrow relation between the cervical column and the temporo-mandibular joint. A reflection so that all the involved professionals in the area of the health can make and understand then, that the performance of a multidiscipline team in the treatment of our patients is indispensable.
