Resumo: Até o advento da implantologia, reconstruções de maxilas edêntulas visavam a recuperação de rebordos alveolares e formas de arco perdidas para a retenção de próteses convencionais. Hoje, os objetivos de aumento dos rebordos incluem além do ganho em volume, a obtenção de um osso saudável e funcional capaz de suportar implantes osseointegráveis em função por longos períodos sem perdas. A colocação e o crescimento de osso viável, maduro e saudável em áreas a serem implantadas é o nosso principal objetivo. Esta atrofia por desuso após a perda dos dentes é acentuada por pressão da prótese em função e, a progressiva pneumatização dos seios maxilares posteriormente. O objetivo é obter base óssea para um número máximo de implantes com o maior comprimento possível em um osso de melhor qualidade em locais ideais para que a reabilitação protética seja mantida em função em longo prazo.
Abstract: Until the advent of the implantology, maxilla reconstructions edentulous aimed at the recovery of alveolar rims and lost forms of arc for the retention of conventional prosthesis. Today, the objectives of increase of the rims include beyond the profit in volume, the attainment of a healthful and functional bone capable to support osseointegravels implantations in function for long periods without losses. The rank and the growth of viable, mature and healthful bone in areas to be implanted are our main objective. This atrophy for disuse after the loss of teeth is accented by pressure of prosthesis in function and, the gradual pneumatization of the maxillary sinus later. The objective is to get bone base for a maximum number of implantations with the biggest possible length in a bone of better quality in
ideal places so that the prosthetic whitewashing is kept in function in long stated period.
